Week 29: Mid-March Moods (and TV Guide)

While the weather is warming up again this week (I can now ride to work without a jacket in the mornings again!) other things going on at work and homemade the week feel a little less sunny than the weather outside. I was still getting over a cold at the beginning of the week, our kitchen sink is having issues draining, and work was slow. We were talking as a house and someone made the good point that our bodies respond to all types of stress in the same way. Meaning, regardless of whether we're physically in danger or feeling stress from non-dangerous circumstances (like work and a clogged sink) our bodies will respond as if we are physically in danger. This was a good reminder that I'm safe, we have access to food, water, and transportation, we have a good community, and that this feeling will pass.

In another sense, this week was a week for waiting. We are between guests and trips with several guests coming this week and the following week and taking our own trip in mid-April. I'm very excited for those guests and it can be hard to wait. But, as we often hear about before Christmas and Easter, waiting is a good, healthy practice. Slow weekends can be good. This is when I can bake bread and bagels, we clean the house, play pickleball, and I write my blog post and reflect on the week. These are good things.

Another good thing from this weekend: some final oranges picked from our tree by my housemates. They're super sweet and will make a great orange tofu for dinner tonight (brought to us by Michaela and Harper).

Last week I talked about some of the books I've read recently. This week I bring to you my current TV guide.

We start with the return of The Mandalorian, season 3 on Disney+! The first episode of this Star Wars series dropped last week but I was able to watch the first two episodes on the TV with the full surround sound this week (instead of my iPad with my headphones). Thank you, housemates, for allowing me to nerd out a bit and enduring the TV explosions.

Perhaps one of the reasons I've been feeling off this week is because of Jane the Virgin (JTV), the TV show we've been watching as a house on Netflix. This is a great show but we're coming to the end of the series. That means extra drama and emotions on the screen, not to mention the little hangover you get when you finish a longer, very well made TV show (maybe that's just me).

My house is eagerly awaiting the third season of Ted Lasso on Apple TV which should coincide nicely with our resolution of JTV. We watched the first two seasons back in the fall and are very much looking forward to the return of this American football coach and his English football (soccer) team.

Finally, we are also watching Abbott Elementary on Hulu. This is a great show about teachers in a Philadelphia public school and really hit its stride in this second season. I actually laugh out loud with regularity when we watch this show.

Our most recent puzzle is a van Gogh and may take a bit longer than normal. Luckily, the pieces are marked on the back with letters so we can check our work. But don't worry. You all will be the first to know when it's completed.
