After a flight into Phoenix with Mom, Dad, and Lincoln, a night in a Tucson Airbnb, and a tour of the University of Arizona at Tucson, I moved into the VS house across the parking lot of Shalom Mennonite Church. After unpacking my checked bag, carry-on, and personal item (I may need more clothes for 11 months) I poked around the house opening every cupboard and door that I could access. In our backyard, large succulents, a pomegranate tree, and a citrus tree grow, chickens cluck, and the clothes line flaps in the breeze. It's "monsoon" season (according to local Tucsonans) and dark clouds began gathering to the south. No rain today though! Out the front door is a gorgeous view of the Catalina Mountains (hopefully soon to be summited).
After getting settled, our unit director, Lisa, took the four of us out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Seis Kitchen. Then we headed west of the city to enjoy a brilliant Tucson sunset.
After a hot day, it felt good to take a cold shower. I tried to stay up until 10 pm Tucson time but my EST trained body barely made it. This week will be full of getting to know each other and the city!
I bet your house smelled so good when the bread and granola were baking. It’s always a good feeling to get the first week under your belt. Thanks for sharing in this post!
This is awesome! Thanks for writing a blog and sharing it with us! And, thanks for letting us be a part of your transition. Love ya!
